Ich bin schwanger

I found out I was pregnant at 5am, alone in a hotel room in Munich, Germany. I was about to fly back to the states after a week-long business trip, but had felt like crap and just knew something was wrong. Looking back, it's ironic that my journey with Torsten started like this - solo, on a business trip, overseas and with a pregnancy test that responded with "schwanger" or "nicht schwanger". Over the past six months, I've gone from traveling internationally every few weeks, working up to 16 hour days and feeling that not checking work emails for more than 4 hours EVER was unacceptable, to being a full-time mother and housewife, cooking, cleaning, changing diapers (cloth), exclusively breastfeeding and forgetting to check any emails for days at a time. This life change has been shocking, wonderful, challenging, sleepless, boring at times, exciting at others and thankless yet rewarding. I wouldn't trade this time for anything in the world.

Through this journey, we've learned what works for us, what doesn't, what products we love, which ones we hate and who we can count on and who has run for the hills since we've become parents. Since we plan to do this again at some point and my memory started failing me as soon as the test said "schwanger", I've decided to start keeping a record of everything baby.
